How {NOT} to Make Champagne Popsicles

These might look pretty but they were a complete flop! I figure my failure will be your success so here's how NOT to make champagne popsicles...

Most people know that alcohol doesn't freeze well. I knew this... I knew it when I was pouring the champagne. I knew it when I was putting the molds in the freezer and I knew it in the pit of my soul when I pulled them out. I thought I'd risk it just to see and they slid right out of the molds and immediately started to melt. I was barely able to sprinkle them with gold dust (omg so pretty, right?!) and photograph them before they were just pools of bubbly in my hands.

So I did some more research and found a couple of tips to keep those pops icy cold:

1. Don't freeze the champagne by itself (like I did). A super easy alternative would be to add juice. Anything to help cut the bubbly and solidify the popsicles. I love mimosas so mimosa pops sound pretty dang delicious to me! (I actually wanted to make these but was too lazy to run to the store to get some OJ)

2. This site suggests you boil off some of the alcohol on the stove first. I'd opt out of this one because what's the point?! I like my booze...

3. This site mixed champagne and wine and that seemed to work.

Palm Springs Iconic Home Tour

As some of you may know, this week is Modernism Week in Palm Springs, California and we had the unique opportunity of touring the newly named historic site, the Menrad House, designed by William Krisel. It was the perfect balance of casual flow and minimalist simplicity. All I can say is I wanted to move in right then and there. Loving this retro design and those clerestory windows allowing for all of that natural light without sacrificing ones privacy. That artwork is fantastic and the bedding in that master bedroom... love . This patio cover is to die for. A genius way to provide a bit of shade without feeling closed in. The design is so simple but the overall effect is absolutely stunning. Apparently, these homes sold so fast that a brochure was never even produced to promote them. Purple Power Juice

As we wrap up our 3 day juice reboot , I find myself thinking about this fruity concoction we enjoyed on day 2 . A strong, berry burst with a bite of ginger, perfect as a morning pick-me-up. Remember, fruit is best consumed in the morning on an empty stomach because it moves through your digestive system much faster than other foods. 6 cups of concord grapes 1 green apple 1/2 cup of blackberries 2 2" pieces of ginger (I used 1 1" piece because ginger is super strong) Enjoy! xo Sécia Check out our other juice recipes here !
