HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Cooper!

Yesterday we celebrated Cooper's First Birthday with a Party! All of his buds came over, we (the humans) enjoyed margaritas, Ben cooked some amazing ribs and Cooper got some awesome gifts. Thank you to all of our wonderful friends who celebrated with us!  Today... Coop is pooped .

ZOMBIE haiku

While rummaging through the sadly displaced books of  a store going out of business , I stumbled upon something that was the perfect addition to my collection. Something amazing. Something that I'm sure will be totally witty and insanely funny. Something strangely, filed under the  animal  section... Zombie Haiku  is " the touching story of a zombie's gradual decay told through the intimate poetry of haiku"  (Amazon.com) . In other words, every zombie-lover's dream. Here are a few pieces for your reading pleasure... And remember, one must always be  prepared  for the zombie apocalypse so as to avoid a demise not unlike that of poor Mr. Chris Lynch. xoxo

S I T on A R T

I mentioned earlier this week that I was going to share an amazing piece that Ben and I picked up last weekend while thrifting in Los Angeles. This is truly a piece of art and it's just an added bonus that it's actually functional. So here it is, just in time for Cooper's birthday party this weekend... We are so totally in love with this bench created by Mr. Anderson of  Anderson's Benches . And as you can see from his selection of amazing  art you can sit on , it was super hard to choose a favorite. Ben and I both have a fondness for all things shabby and chic but also love conversation pieces which is a category this definitely falls into. I love the two-toned color and the different chair styles. And at $350, it's totally affordable.  So, the next time you're near Hollywood on a Sunday afternoon, stop by and say hello to  Mr. Anderson  at the  Melrose Trading Post . xoxo

Simple Lemon Bars

A few weeks ago I posted an amazing  Lemon Bar  recipe over at  Cookie Louise Pleaze   in celebration of the lovely, Christina's one year bloggerversary. For those of you who might have missed it, I wanted to share it again because it's just  THAT  good. Here's what you need… For the crust: 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, melted but not hot For the filling: 2 large eggs 3/4 cup sugar 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 6 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons) 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest Heat oven to 325 degrees. Spray an 8x8 inch baking pan with vegetable cooking spray. Fit a piece of foil across the pan bottom and up 2 of the sides. Make sure the foil overhangs to the pull bars from the pan. Spray again with vegetable cooking spray. Mix flour, salt and confectioner’s sugar in a medium bowl; stir in butter to form dough. Press dough into pan bottom (the bottom of a measur
