INSTA*LOVE :: Cynthia Hernandez :: @hernandez_c

So excited, our INSTA*LOVE series gets to feature an artist with a really cool feed :: Cynthia Hernandez :: @hernandez_c! Her architectural shots are seriously stunning and I love her crisp, blue sky backdrops. There's just something about that minimalistic vibe and she really captures it.
Where do you live?

I live in Stamford, Connecticut

What do you love/love to do?

I love the outdoors, great architecture, animals and design!

What inspires you?

My first instagram influences of minimal art was through @mattcrump. I never saw candy color art before and was inspired to start my own journey but with the color blue! I found blue to be very calming and a much more natural color for my backdrops. In terms of subject, I wasn't sure what to shoot at the beginning I tried a little bit of everything until I found my sweet spot, architecture. What helped me find out the beauty of it was @akinkhan. His instagram is what I aspire my art to be! Beautifully edited architecture shots.
What do you look for when taking a photo?

I look for interesting buildings when I shoot. I walk around all over the place but concentrate on cities! I think glass is great to manipulate when I edit but I also enjoy plain buildings as well! When I shoot I envision what I will be editing later.

What are your favorite apps and filters to edit with?

I manually edit all my photos through photoshop. This includes cutting out backgrounds, duplicating content, fixing them. Also a lot of the photography tools as well, my brightness and contrast, curves, hue, color balance! I do it all on this. I save instagram for last because I honestly love their shadow tool, it helps bring some more light in those dark areas that would be harder to pin point on photoshop. Those are usually my two processes. I haven't tried other applications but would definitely be interested in the future!
Who are your favorite fellow Instagrammers?

So I probably answered this a little before but am definitely a fan of @mattcrump and @akinkhan. Also absolutely adore @multiplanar's work. Karel infuses a multitude of texture into minimal architecture, it's another way to think candy colored! Another recent favorite is @the_architecture_photographer. Paul uses beautiful buildings of Berlin and keeps some of the original color, but adds a candy pop! He also uses my favorite backdrop color of blue so its hard not to be a fan!
Super cool shots, right?! She's now introduced me to a bunch of other cool peeps in the Instagram world too! Check her out @hernandez_c and she has a website too :: www.iamcynthiahernandez.com :: It's super cool!

Thanks so much to Cynthia for participating in our INSTA*LOVE series!

Palm Springs Iconic Home Tour

As some of you may know, this week is Modernism Week in Palm Springs, California and we had the unique opportunity of touring the newly named historic site, the Menrad House, designed by William Krisel. It was the perfect balance of casual flow and minimalist simplicity. All I can say is I wanted to move in right then and there. Loving this retro design and those clerestory windows allowing for all of that natural light without sacrificing ones privacy. That artwork is fantastic and the bedding in that master bedroom...  love . This patio cover is to die for. A genius way to provide a bit of shade without feeling closed in. The design is so simple but the overall effect is absolutely stunning. Apparently, these homes sold so fast that a brochure was never even produced to promote them. I snapped a few shots of the neighboring houses and will share them soon. Next up, a tour of vintage trailers and caravans on Saturday. Can't wait to get inspired for wh

Purple Power Juice

As we wrap up our 3 day juice reboot , I find myself thinking about this fruity concoction we enjoyed on day 2 . A strong, berry burst with a bite of ginger, perfect as a morning pick-me-up. Remember, fruit is best consumed in the morning on an empty stomach because it moves through your digestive system much faster than other foods. 6 cups of concord grapes 1 green apple 1/2 cup of blackberries 2 2"  pieces of ginger (I used 1 1" piece because ginger is super strong) Enjoy! xo Sécia Check out our other juice recipes  here !
