My First New York: Early Adventures in The Big City

I came home yesterday to find a little package sent from my mom and dad. There, wrapped in pretty tissue paper sealed with Anthropologie tape, was this amazing surprise with a sweet, little *note that read:

"A little something you both might enjoy on your long flight to New York!
Love you!!! xxxooo"

My First New York: Early Adventures in The Big City accounts the first memories of New York told by celebrities including Tom Wolfe, Danny DeVito, Mike Meyers and even Albert Hammond Jr. From Mayors to Comedians, Chefs to Porn Stars, this is the perfect read for our birthday trip to our first New York in October.

Thanks, Mom and Dad.

xoxo

P.S. For those of you admiring my shoes, yes, I know they are totally cute. I got them here.

*When I called my mom she made it a point to tell me that the reason the note was not an inscription was because the book is a first edition and you never write in a first edition. I love my mother.

  5. Hey Secia! I'm Linda. I found your blog through that whole Blogging Worldwide thing that Mary Rebecca did! I think I'm about two posts above yours. But anyway, just wanted to pop by and say hello... and that your writing is kind of brilliant!

  8. Totally just added that book to my wish list! I visited NY with my mom a couple of years ago. We had an absolute blast. There's no place like New York City! Have fun and just take it all in (people watching is the best there!)

  10. What a super awesome gift!! And it's so fun to get things in the mail. I'm jealous. I was in NYC last spring visiting my brother and had the most amazing experience. He and his wife were temporarily living in So-Ho. It was such a fun place to have as a home base. They are going back out there this month (for another long stay) and I hope I'll get to visit them again.

Palm Springs Iconic Home Tour

As some of you may know, this week is Modernism Week in Palm Springs, California and we had the unique opportunity of touring the newly named historic site, the Menrad House, designed by William Krisel. It was the perfect balance of casual flow and minimalist simplicity. All I can say is I wanted to move in right then and there. Loving this retro design and those clerestory windows allowing for all of that natural light without sacrificing ones privacy. That artwork is fantastic and the bedding in that master bedroom...  love . This patio cover is to die for. A genius way to provide a bit of shade without feeling closed in. The design is so simple but the overall effect is absolutely stunning. Apparently, these homes sold so fast that a brochure was never even produced to promote them. I snapped a few shots of the neighboring houses and will share them soon. Next up, a tour of vintage trailers and caravans on Saturday. Can't wait to get inspired for wh

Purple Power Juice

As we wrap up our 3 day juice reboot , I find myself thinking about this fruity concoction we enjoyed on day 2 . A strong, berry burst with a bite of ginger, perfect as a morning pick-me-up. Remember, fruit is best consumed in the morning on an empty stomach because it moves through your digestive system much faster than other foods. 6 cups of concord grapes 1 green apple 1/2 cup of blackberries 2 2"  pieces of ginger (I used 1 1" piece because ginger is super strong) Enjoy! xo Sécia Check out our other juice recipes  here !
