Over the last 2 yrs I have had many health issues, 2 back surgeries and now have plates and rods in my back. Three words... Breakfast. All. Day. YES! We've been enjoying breakfast/brunch/lunch at Blu Jam Cafe for years and there's a reason we keep visiting... and revisiting: the atmosphere is chill, the staff is awesome and the food is amazing every single time. They have three locations in the Los Angeles area but we're valley livin' so the Sherman Oaks branch is our spot. Daniel, the sweetest most friendly general manager ever, often stops by the table to say hello and chat and we always leave with a smile.  Mmmm... french press coffee. I almost always get one of the many varieties of the eggs Benedict but this time I wanted to try something new (AND SWEET!) so I went for their signature dish, Crunchy French Toast. The not-so-secret secret - they roll it in corn flakes to give it a unique crunch AND it doesn't come with your average maple syrup... It comes with the yummiest vanilla bean sauce ever! SO GOOD! Santa Monica can be a nightmare to navigate on the weekend but this little gem is off the beaten path just enough to get in without a reservation or waiting for a lifetime. Blue Daisy is not only super cute, the food is also to die for! They put us in a little, intimate corner (hence the low-lit photos) which was perfect for some sweet Sunday time with my love. Just look at those figs and goat cheese breads, drizzled with honey... and those zucchini hash browns with poached eggs and a side of horseradish and cream cheese sauce... OMG I'm craving them again just dreaming about them! There's my honey and his yummy Bloody Mary (topped with a slice of bacon, of course). Don't worry, he's not two-fisting it, that's my mimosa! This ice cream is soooo GOOD! I mean, anything that involves Girl Scout Thin Mints is gonna be amazing, right?! Mint chocolate ice cream is one of my favorites. I found this really great base recipe and then vamped it up a bit with the yummy cookie crumbles. INGREDIENTS: 2 cups heavy cream 1 cup 1% milk 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon mint extract (make sure it's fresh!) pinch of salt 5 drops green food coloring 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate 10 Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies (frozen) INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Put the Thin Mint cookies in the freezer for about 30 minutes 2. Combine all other ingredients except for the chocolate in a bowl 3. Pour into your ice cream maker and churn per the maker's instructions 4. In a glass bowl, slowly melt chocolate in the microwave 5.
