DIY // White and Gold Pumpkins

October is finally here and the Halloween decorating is in full swing! We decided to class it up this year with some super chic white and gold pumpkins for a more modern flair. This super easy DIY literally took me half a day with dry time! They turned out so awesome that I almost want to keep them out year round (but I won't because that would just be ridiculous... wouldn't it?...)!
What you need:
plastic pumpkins (you can find some at Target or Home Depot)
1 can each of white, gold and clear gloss spray paint
painter's tape
cardboard (or alternative painting surface)
felt feet (optional)

What to do:
1. Clean pumpkins with a dry cloth and remove all stickers, tags and light bulbs or cords.

2. In a properly ventilated area, spray two coats of gold on the stems of the pumpkins with at least 20 minutes of dry time between coats.

3. When gold paint is dry enough, tape off the stem for the white coat. Make sure all of the gold is covered so you don't get any overspray.

4. Spray three coats of white on the pumpkins with at least 20 minutes of dry time between coats. You'll need to lay them on their side for one of the coats to make sure the bottom and all of the curves get proper coverage.

5. When the white paint is dry, remove the tape and spray the entire pumpkins with a coat of clear gloss paint to help the paint evenly set.

6. OPTIONAL: When the pumpkins are completely dry, evenly distribute and stick the felt feet on the bottom so they don't scratch any surfaces they sit on or get paint on anything.
That's it! So easy, right?! Obviously, the color possibilities are endless. Enjoy your fresh and chic pumpkins and let me know how you like the DIY or what colors you decide to try!

Palm Springs Iconic Home Tour

As some of you may know, this week is Modernism Week in Palm Springs, California and we had the unique opportunity of touring the newly named historic site, the Menrad House, designed by William Krisel. It was the perfect balance of casual flow and minimalist simplicity. All I can say is I wanted to move in right then and there. Loving this retro design and those clerestory windows allowing for all of that natural light without sacrificing ones privacy. That artwork is fantastic and the bedding in that master bedroom...  love . This patio cover is to die for. A genius way to provide a bit of shade without feeling closed in. The design is so simple but the overall effect is absolutely stunning. Apparently, these homes sold so fast that a brochure was never even produced to promote them. I snapped a few shots of the neighboring houses and will share them soon. Next up, a tour of vintage trailers and caravans on Saturday. Can't wait to get inspired for wh...

DIY // Super Cute Pom Poms

This is probably the most fun (and the most addictive ) DIY ever! I seriously made these for days while watching holiday movies on the couch. They're actually pretty easy too! The more you make, the better you get at making them! Here's what you need: Yarn A fork (yes... a fork!) Scissors Step 1 Loosely wrap the yarn around the fork about 70-90 times. The thinner the yarn, the more you'll end up needing to wrap. Tip: It's important to keep it loose to make it easier to work with in the next steps. Step 2 Thread another piece of yarn through the center of the fork and tie a double-knot creating a bow-like shape. Remove from the fork and flip the ball over and double-knot the back as well. Tip: Double-knotting both sides will ensure the pom pom doesn't fall apart as you begin to shape it. Step 3 Cut all the loops on both sides. You'll see it now starting to look more like a pom pom! Step 4 Cut the edges to shape it into a ball. Tip: Use the s...
